Oi, Brasil! Headed to Mogi Morim....

After the longest and only 10 hour flight either of us have ever been on, Jonathan and I found our driver waiting for us in the airport - who then informed us we would have about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Mogi Morim (the station Jonathan will be doing training at until Saturday; then we will head to our final destination of Uberlandia). We did our best to stay awake for the drive, but that didn't last long. So, here ya go!:

Sao Paulo (departures and arrivals):

Once we woke up, we were pulling into our hotel, Sol Do Mogi, a place with a tropical feel to it in a not-so tropical area :):

I was thoroughly impressed with the 'modern' flare the hotel had, given the unfortunate poverty-stricken cities we had to pass on our way to Mogi Morim. I was even more delighted once I opened the door to our hotel room:

Once we were checked in, Jonathan only had about an hour until he had to go to the station for driver training, so we decided to grab lunch at the hotel pool bar:

I ordered chicken with rice and beans, while Jonathan had a steak and onion barbeque sandwich -- and let me tell you -- this food was DELICIOSO!

All in all, our first day was a pretty fun and easy one (minus the lack of sleep), UNTIL I decided to take a shower. Did you know that certain Brazilian showers (and possibly other showers on Earth, but I seriously doubt it) require you to actually OPEN the drain to remove the water out of the shower area? I KNOW! ME NEITHER!

So, I'm standing in the shower and start to wonder if the water is beginning to rise, and I keep looking down thinking, 'Surely, I'm imagining that it's getting higher, the drain is sucking at least some of this water out.'

After flooding our bathroom due to water pouring through the bottom of the shower door, I now know that this was not the case.

Lesson learned! Until next time...

  3. Wow! The pool area looks beautiful! I agree with Danyel .. only you!! lol I also agree with you - who would've thought that in a shower!! It probably would've happened to me too, but I "think" I would've turned the shower off before I flooded the bathroom!!

Love you! Thanks for the pictures!

  5. This is probably because small lizards and poisonous insects climb through open drains. ;^)
